WOW! loliipops always take me back to the glorious childhood memory when all friends enjoy together sucking the lollipops (candies).
It was a great experience. Simply lollipop is a something large, flat, rounded thing on the end of a stick. The rounded thing can be anything from sweet to savory (chicken, paneer or veg).
Chicken lollipop is an amazing hors d’œuvre that is made from the middle (and sometimes inner) segments of chicken wings. The
middle segment has one of the two bones removed and the flesh on the segment is pushed to one end of the bone .
This indo-chinese dish is very popular in India and can be prepared in many style. Either you can deep fry the lollipops with spices or else deep fry and than toss them in red chili or any other favorite sauce.
It will be good if you buy the chicken lollipop pieces from butcher or market because giving the chicken wings into lollipop shape is a messy work at home but not impossible.

now let’s see what are the ingredients you need for Chicken Lollipop.
- Chicken lollipop pieces: 14
- Ginger and garlic paste:1 1/2 teaspoons
- Soya sauce: 2 tsp
- Salt to taste
It is quite easy if you get the lollipops from the market. Marinade the chicken pieces with all the above ingredients i.e. salt, ginger garlic paste, pepper and soya sauce. Leave this for at least 30 minutes aside for resting.
Now prepare the batter in which chicken lollipops will be coated and deep fry in the hot oil.
2nd marination/ batter:
- Red chilli paste/ powder: 1 tbsp
- Refined flour (maida): 4 tbsp
- Cornflour: 2 tbsp
- eggs: 2
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup water
- oil for deep frying
Take a bowl. Add 2eggs and whisk
Then add salt,red chili powder, 4tbsp refined flour and 2 tbsp cornflour. Give a whisk. Add water and make a lump free batter. I prefer using kashmiri red chili powder because it adds nice red color with less spiciness. If you want you could add little red food color.
Now the batter is like pouring . So get ready your oil in a deep pan.
Just coat the chicken lollipop wih the batter and drop in the hot oil one by one. Keep the flame high to begin with and then lower the heat till wings are almost cooked through. They are done. Take out and drain on absorpant paper.
Now my chicken lollipops are ready.
Now let’s make our chicken lollipops more interesting and tasty like the restaurant served. I’m goanna prepare sauce in which chicken lollipops will be tossed.
- 2-3 tbsp oil
- Chopped garlic: 1 tbsp
- Chopped ginger: 1/2 tbsp
- Chili sauce: 2 tsp
- Soy sauce: 1 teaspoon
- Vinegar: 1/2 teaspoon
- Spring onions
To begin Heat 3 tbsp oil in a pan. Add lot of chopped garlic and ginger. Just give a nice saute.
Now add 1tsp soya sauce, little vineger and red chili sauce. Add little water to prevent burning the sauce. I havn’t added salt to this because I have already added salt to marination of chicken and batter and sauce also contain enough salt to season the dish a. If it requires, add little bit of salt.
Now add fried lollipops to the sauce and a generous toss.
Add chopped spring onion for final touch and take out.
Garnish as you wish. I have garnished with bell pepper bowl in which I served some salads (watch the video) along with my saucy chicken lollipops . it’s looking tempting, right?
